Meet The Archaeologist

Archaeologists are scientists who study people of the past through their material culture (objects they made) and through stories told by cultural descendants. They also study how people of the past interacted with their natural environment.

There are many different types of archaeologists. Some archaeologists study underwater shipwrecks, others study hieroglyphic writing from ancient civilizations, some study how stone tools and projectile points were made, others study animals and plants from the past, some work on constructions sites, and others make maps on their computers at home. These are just a few examples of some of the things an archaeologist can do.
